Neuropsychological Evaluations

Neuropsychological Evaluations

A neuropsychological evaluation is a specialized type of assessment to understand an individual’s cognitive and social-emotional strengths and weaknesses.  A neuropsychological evaluation is appropriate for individuals who are not meeting developmental milestones, struggle academically, have mood or behavioral difficulties, or demonstrate social challenges.  Such evaluations are offered to those who may be challenged with conditions such as:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Executive Dysfunction
  • Reading Disability (Dyslexia)
  • Math Disability (Dyscalculia)
  • Mood and Anxiety Disorders
  • Nonverbal Learning Disorder
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Developmental Delay
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Medical Disorders (e.g., Epilepsy)

Research suggests that clinical challenges frequently co-occur (e.g., attentional difficulties and learning challenges), which highlights the need for comprehensive assessments to accurately diagnose the underlying condition(s) and inform treatment, educational, and vocational planning.
